Barbacan Valtellina Superiore Cru SOL 2021

Description:

Country: Italy

Region: Valtellina

Type: Red Wine

Grape: Nebbiolo

The wines of Valtellina display incredible freshness and lighter body compared to the better-known Piedmont nebbiolos. The high altitude and steepness of the its vineyards give Barbacan wines this nuance. For thepurest expression, the Sega brothers use organic viticulture, only manual cultivation and minimal intervention in the winemaking process.

The grapes arefermented on skins for 3 months beforebeingtransferred to a mixture of chestnut and acacia barrels for 1 year, and is then transferred back to concrete to settle again for 9 months. Wild yeasts are used, and the wine is unfiltered with minimal added sulfur.

Red fruits, pretty flowers and spice on the nose. On the palate, this wine is lively and energetic, with fresh tannins.
